Vs. 1
I heard a story, about a little girl
Rushed to the hospital, the last thing you'd expect in the world
Her parents caught in emotion mixed with surgeries
One day it was fine, and then the next they were down on their knees
With complications, organs failed and raised their fear
The doctors tried their best to find the cause and make it clear
A faith-filled couple, but this was quite a test for them
The downward spiral made it feel like God abandoned them

They said, "No, but can I take her place?"

An older gentleman celebrates retirement
And gets to do the things with time he's never had to spend
His high school sweet heart and wife for over 40 years
Now can share her time with him in laughter and maybe some tears
But unexpected, cancer strikes and limits plans
With fervent hope they pray she's healed by laying on of hands
A loving grandmother just wants a little more time
And makes him wish, "Why can't God's plan just be the same as mine?"

Too many friends and members of the family
Caught in tight circumstances, due to the economy
A corporate culture so worried by the bottom line
That their former workers might be counting nickels and their dimes
It's such a shame that some last resorts are in despair
Maybe find how to get by less and what else can be shared?
So if you feel like you're at the end of your rope
Let's make a deal, I bet with Jesus Christ there can be hope.
